BUTTER CAKE RECIPE
Ingredients
- 240 g plain flour
- 240 g white sugar
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp fine salt
- 200 g unsalted butter at room temperature
- 4 eggs at room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla extract or citrus zest
- 80 mL milk 80g, at room temperature
Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 160°C. Line the bottom of a 20-23cm round mold or a rectangular bread mold with baking paper.
2. Briefly mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
3. Combine the softened butter with the dry ingredients with a silicone spatula.
4. In a separate small bowl, mix the eggs, vanilla and milk.
5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix with a whisk.
6. Pour the uniform batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40-55 minutes. The time will vary depending on the size of the mold. After 40 minutes, check that the cake is ready with a toothpick. The toothpick inserted into the center of the cake should come out clean.
7. Let the cake cool in the tin for 15 minutes before running a knife around the edges and removing it. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
