Homemade Chocolate-Dipped Waffle Cones
Ingredients
For the waffle cones
• 2 cups all-purpose flour (250g)
• ½ cup granulated sugar (100g)
• ½ cup melted butter (113g)
• 2 large eggs (100g)
• ½ cup milk (120ml)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
• ½ teaspoon salt (3g)
For decorating
• 1 cup chocolate, melted (170g)
• ½ cup chopped peanuts or nuts (60g)
• ½ cup desiccated coconut (40g)
• ½ cup colorful sprinkles (75g)
Method
Whisk the eggs, sugar and melted butter until smooth.
Add the milk and vanilla extract and mix well.
Add the flour and salt gradually, mixing until you have a smooth, pourable batter.
Preheat a waffle-cone maker and lightly grease it.
Pour a small amount of batter into the center and cook until golden and crisp.
While the waffle is still hot and flexible, quickly roll it around a cone mold and press the edge gently to seal. Allow it to cool completely so it becomes crisp.
Melt the chocolate until smooth.
Dip the open end of each cone into the melted chocolate.
Immediately coat the chocolate with chopped nuts, coconut or colorful sprinkles.
Place the cones on a tray and allow the chocolate to set completely.
Fill with your favorite ice cream and enjoy!
Tip: Work quickly when shaping the cones—the waffle becomes firm within seconds after coming out of the waffle maker.
